The light is very bright at maximum. Bright enough to illuminate the darkest streets on a moonless night. A friend of mine has one too, and when she drove behind me, I always thought it was a motorbike or a car behind me. The downside of high settings is that the battery doesn't last long. This takes about 1 1/2 hours if the weather is warm. Expect less time on a cold day, as lithium-ion batteries lose about 12% of their performance when temperatures drop from 70 to 32 degrees. Don't expect it to last long at this intensity. I found the medium and low settings bright enough to illuminate a road or trail in almost any condition. The high brightness setting is only required in extreme situations, such as driving through a dark tunnel at night. Even the flashing mode will illuminate the road well enough in most situations, and the flashing will really get the driver's attention. The flashing mode lasts for 12 hours, so it should be enough for almost every situation. Here is the expected runtime at different settings.
