We bought ours earlier this year hoping to use it almost immediately. The trip never happened, so it was in a box. It was finally taken out of the box this week; and with a cigarette lighter socket 30 amp switching power supply, we actually used it at home to make a little stew. The power adapter didn't even get hot. The RoadPro draws about 8 amps of current at 14 volts; well below the standard 10 amp capacity of most cigarette lighter sockets in most vehicles. To stabilize it in a moving car we use 2 to 4 "bungee" straps to secure it to the floor in the back seat of my Ford Escape. stop him from moving. You can also put something around it (but nothing that can melt!) to hold it in place. This device will get warm, so be careful. after 8 hours of cooking, it blessed me with a very generous amount of beef stew; suitable for feeding 3 people if you consider other devices with it.
