We've got backyard chickens living in luxury with peat, sand, and dirt spas in their run and an insulated, solar-powered coop that gives them an extra hour of light in the mornings. They love their dust baths, fly up to our arms for treats of mealworms, tear up parsley, collards, and kale we give them, have grown up to beautiful hens with lots of attitude. The five of them have been laying 5 eggs a day so far, through the winter.We're not washing or refrigerating the eggs and had the problem of how to rotate them so we're always using the oldest eggs for cooking, or the freshest ones where fresh eggs work best. This Chinese-made 'skelter dispenser' solved that problem. It holds two dozen eggs and serves them from the bottom. We gift a lot of eggs so freshness is not a problem, and the dispenser makes it easy.It can be knocked over, I guess, but it is not flimsy, has a good base, and sits on a counter with other fresh fruits and veggies. We got a few gifts for the hens this Christmas from friends who appreciate the eggs, and this was the best. Ebay also stocks good-looking egg cartons.
