I've only listened to solid state receivers and amps over the years. The latest gear I own includes an emotiva xpa-2 a/b amp, a Crown XLS1502 class D amp and an old Outlaw 700 class A/B amp. Many speakers like elac uni-fi uf5, elac debut 2.0, paradigm studio 40, infinity bookshelf and kef q150. After around 50 hours of break-in I can definitely say that there is a difference in sonic performance compared to solid state amps. It's true that other reviewers mentioned the bass. With this combo you can hear the bass extension. The soundstage is very distinct. the singer is right in the middle of the two speakers. High frequencies can also be heard. without an equalizer, the sound has more weight. My sources include Laptop > Dragonfly Black, Pandora & Amazon Music Streaming, Panasonic BD Player, iPod, iPad Mini, Amazon HD UHD Music Streaming, Bookense MP3 Player. I did a lot of research and read about a10, 12, a20, a50, muzichsare, etc. I finally settled on this model based on design, price, reviews, and components. This is an honest keeper - only time will tell about durability. This is my first tube amp and I have no regrets. Highly recommended. PS I installed some small fans on the left and right side of the cage to remove the heat from the tubes. Hopefully this will extend the life of the tubes and amp.
