Review on πŸ’§ Nalgene Tritan On The Fly Water Bottle, Blue with Glacial Blue - 24oz: Durable and Stylish Hydration Companion by Adam Taylor

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Designed by a committee too eager to get away for the weekend.

I liked other bottles from Nalgene I have bought many. Well made, durable as advertised. Unfortunately, this bottle is an exception. The problem is in the lid. It's made so that the entire top becomes a rounded carry handle and everything else is there to make the carry strap strong and comfortable. However, this means: - the entire cap is very heavy - this makes the bottle inherently unstable. : When partially empty it can tip over too easily - the user must hold the very heavy top of the lid while drinking or it will flip forward and hit the user's nose hard. But that's not all. The latch that keeps the lid closed is a two-pronged push-click-close latch. Closing takes too much strength. I have to use both hands or put the bottle down and press the cap very hard with one hand. It's inconvenient and too easy not to snap the lid open. In this case, the latch needs to be locked with a small wire latch that clicks up and down. It's fiddly to use and can be folded back with the lid open so it doesn't lock at all. I need a water bottle that's easy to use with one hand, closes securely, and isn't too heavy. This is NOT the bottle. Did I like something about her? The color is beautiful and the shape of the bottle is normal. I don't like the large permanent logo patch on the top shoulder of the bottle. If the lid were much lighter and the clasp was solid and easy to close, that would be a big improvement. The Nalgene design committee tasked with this project had too many goals, lacked common sense, and didn't take the time to get users to try it before it went into production. I'm sorry, Nalgene. I like you, but this is a complete failure.
