We are currently living in our camper van and as it has been a long time I am concerned that the black tank odor could build up even though I use chemicals to maintain it. We also constantly dump it and give it a good rinse, but the odor-causing bacteria linger. In this treatment, a pre-dosed capsule is lowered into the toilet and flushed after 1 minute. A capsule contains a 40 gallon storage tank. When I opened the package, I smelled a not unpleasant, but very strong smell. It had a clove-like odor. I dropped the pod into our china toilet and left the room to wait a minute. Well I forgot. It took me probably 10 minutes to remember and I was greeted with a bright beautiful shade of blue! I was afraid that he had made the toilet dirty, but surprisingly it didn't happen. The smell was clean, not bad at all, and I washed off the blue water and missed a few gallons. There was still some blue left, but after a few washes the blue disappeared. I don't know what it's actually doing in the tank and I won't be looking for a hint of blue when my husband plugs in the chopper and drains the tank. I will continue to use this product and will likely set a timer for it to dissipate as intended.
