This is exactly the underwear my son wears - sweat-wicking material in an athletic style with a regular fit in the form of boxer shorts. It helps that he generally favors color over black and gray. The size is just growing out of the boy's medium pants, although he's not tall yet, and he thinks they're sitting on the side. I would say they are true to size based on this experience. Despite the sizing quirks, this is good underwear and highly recommended.
