This is a great shape for cupcakes. Each pie cavity is about 4 1/2 inches at the top and about 4 inches at the bottom. They leave a little more acidity than your average mini tart. Most mini tarts are about 2-3 inches in diameter. The extra inch gives you a better pie size. It's not just 2-3 bites and done. The whole pan is big. It's good that the tarts are all connected. This greatly simplifies removing the tartlets from the oven. It also gives you some overlap if your crust comes out of the pie cavity a bit. The pan is also a good weight. It's not easy and rough at all. It is made of steel and is very durable. This makes loading and unloading the furnace much easier. I like that it doesn't stick. And it's very non-stick! I sprayed the holes with cooking spray but it wasn't necessary. I used puff pastry and they literally slip out! I have never used a non-stick pan with a non-stick coating like this. Because the pans are individual, you can cook different types of cakes at the same time. Not just one, like big cupcakes. You can customize each cake based on what type each person wants. This really comes in handy if you have picky eaters. The possibilities are endless with this pan!
