Since lockdown started mid-March and I started working from home, I've been looking for a good laptop docking station to easily plug in and unplug my work laptop to simplify . and also from my personal laptop to my desktop (2 4K monitors, keyboard, mouse, etc.). ), Dell 452-BCYT D6000, which is also for sale here at Revain. I tested these docks with both a Macbook Pro (2020 13β³) and a 15β³ ASUS ROG laptop running Windows 10. First of all, this dock was packaged very well. It comes in a sleek box with protective foam surrounding the bottom and top of the dock, which sits alongside a thinner box that contains the power cord and USB-C cable. The second thing that immediately struck me was the strength and construction of the dock. It's not heavy, but it does weigh - it has a solid aluminum body. Before installing the docking station, I would recommend downloading and installing the DisplayLink drivers from the official website. I already installed them from my previous dock so I didn't have to worry about reinstalling. The only issue I had with setting up the dock was that it only outputted to one display for my Windows 10 computer (using 2 DisplayPort cables). I read the manual that came with it and there was a comment about disabling DisplayPort 1 and HDMI 1 if your computer doesn't support USB "Alternate Mode". After I switched one of the DisplayPort cables to an HDMI to HDMI 2 cable, everything worked fine. Just something to consider if you come across the same thing. Not sure what exactly this "alternate mode" is as I can connect 2 DisplayPort cables to a Dell dock using the same laptop and both displays work fine. Both DisplayPort outputs worked on my Macbook. simply good. Not sure what exactly the difference is. Some features of the QGeeM 4K Quad Display USB 3.0 universal notebook dock: β Detachable USB-C cable β Power button to turn on the dock β SD/TF card reader β USB 3.1 ports (3x) β 4 video ports (2x DisplayPort, 2x HDMI )β Rugged aluminum bodyβ Kensington security lock Some cons compared to Dell 452-BCYT D6000Γ No USB ports on side or backΓ AC adapter can't power 60W laptop by itself The biggest problem I have is that all USB ports are on the front of the dock, making it a little awkward to connect peripherals if they need to be hidden behind your desk. All in all, this is a solid laptop dock for the money. When/if my company returns to the office I will be taking this docking station with me to make it easier to connect and disconnect cables for my workstation.
