Review on Diaspora* by Girish Underwood

I like that it's open source, so you can see what they're doing with your data. It's not as easy to use as other platforms (Facebook/Twitter) but has some nice features such as being able to make posts in groups. The lack of moderation makes it harder for people who want privacy or are concerned about their safety. If you care about personal privacy then this isn't the right platform for you. We were looking for something where we could have our own domain name instead of using Facebook which had been taken over by Zuckerberg.
