I installed this tensioner on my 2003 Passat 1.8T about two months ago. So far the part works great. I recommend this part as a viable alternative to the OEM part. UPDATE (May 2018): The part failed after installation just over six months ago. When the engine is running, the part flows down in certain speed ranges, causing the camshaft chain to rub against the valve cover when the engine accelerates. Also, it leaked when the engine was off for several hours. Sometimes when this leak was dormant, the intake cam would stay slightly out of time, slowing the engine to start. As soon as the engine starts and oil pressure builds up, it naturally runs perfectly. I contacted the manufacturer, Geluoxi, to see if they would offer a special warranty discount for the part. They said that as the part is out of warranty and the order was placed by Revain I would need to see if they would send the product back to me as Geluoxi does not accept responsibility for any failure. I removed the defective part and bought a used original VW/Audi tensioner and mounted new sliders on it. After the installation it worked perfectly again. I can no longer recommend this product. This part took about 2.5 hours to install and required new gaskets.
