Timing Chain Tensioner Problems: Identified by a screeching noise originating near the engine. This is due to the timing chain being unable to smoothly function and instead grind against some impedance such as sludge or other contaminants. Sometimes, if the chain is tugging on the engine, this can result in rumbling or shaking. These symptoms get more serious with greater engine usage, so increasing the revolutions per minute may help to troubleshoot the problems. Kindly Reminder: Please confirm your car model and the OE of the part before purchasing to avoid buying the wrong. Thank you for choosing our Good Quality Parts With Nice Price, any problem can contact us.

All 20 valves πŸ€— in spare parts

I hope this puppy survives. No problems with tolerances or production. Actually, I don't know the composition of these extensor legs.πŸ€”

Excellent purchase! Cheaper well packaged, but the tool.

Great purchase! The cheaper tool is well packaged but the tool has too many threads so you have to be careful not to over tighten the tool or the tool will break.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons

So far so good - parts

I'm glad I exchanged it once, the old one was worn out. Of course, the valve cover gasket had to be replaced. It was also difficult to find a torque wrench within 7 ft/lb to tighten the bolts. I broke the tool that came with it, but it was my fault for overstretching it.

Spoiled my cylinder head

This tensioner lasted two days before it overclocked my engine and destroyed my cylinder head. The repair costs me about $1500 if I do the work myself. I'm sending it back, but the damage is done. Stay away from this stretcher. I am a master mechanic with 12 years of experience as a VW dealer. DO NOT PUT THIS ON YOUR CAR.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Hardly ever

Surprisingly good quality

I was wary of buying this product as it's obviously made in China and that's a pretty important part. Timing chain tensioner failure will likely result in catastrophic engine failure. However, this detail impressed me. Tolerances seem legal; everything is tight and free of play. The guides seemed cheap, but over time you will get used to it. There are many of the same markings on the casting as on the original part, only the Audi badge is missing. The magnet even has the same manufacturer's…

I installed this tensioner on my 2003 Passat 1.8T about two months ago. So far the part works great. I recommend this part as a viable alternative to the OEM part. UPDATE (May 2018): The part failed after installation just over six months ago. When the engine is running, the part flows down in certain speed ranges, causing the camshaft chain to rub against the valve cover when the engine accelerates. Also, it leaked when the engine was off for several hours. Sometimes when this leak was…
