Started well, failed

There is a lot of talk these days about mold growth in homes and also about fungal growth that can cause serious health problems (I don't know how serious this is but some people certainly talk about it as if it is one very big deal). A few months ago I had a clogged trash can in my sink that leaked all over my closet, ruining the wood underneath and causing everything under the sink to get moldy. So I was really looking forward to it. I was worried about running electricity into anything under the sink, so the battery performance was a big plus for me. I unboxed it, read the instructions, downloaded the app and was on my way as you can see in the photos above. The instructions are pretty clear, but they cover two different devices and it's a bit ambiguous at first. I wasn't sure how to put in the batteries (which are included, AAA if you're wondering). With this model, all you have to do is hold and twist the small parts on the bottom of the device. If you do it the first time, you can find out later. The "Hard Reset" button is located in the center of the device, on the circuit board, inside. So you add batteries, start the device and get to work. Everything is pretty simple. Everything worked great until the third day, after which it turned off and couldn't seem to connect to the app. I changed the batteries, made sure it was clean, but it still didn't work. I tried again with a reset and it worked for another day. I changed the batteries again and it seemed to work for about an hour and then it died. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I highly doubt it. I don't know if there's a sleep mode or something, but at first you'll see a blue light indicating it's on, the app can see it and it's fine (it has its own WiFi SSID Fi, which no longer showing all the time I have problems with it.) I will contact the manufacturer, maybe it's a bug, but so far it's been too much trouble to get much use out of it. I need something that I can use to just alert myself if there's a problem and easily show that he's still alive and in control. It did for a few days and after a battery change, but when it dies it does so without warning so you won't know unless you checked (which I didn't until after checking). Everything looks good so far, but otherwise the mileage is low.
