I had to order these. I just could not imagine water proof socks.First, they are waterproof.They do not look like it from the picture, but they are basically scuba socks. They are made from the same material scuba socks are made from, just as thick, and as difficult to put on and take off.If hiking, where I know I might have to hike through water or fall into it, I wear a thin pair of silk or nylon socks underneath to make sure I do not get blisters.I never thought of basically wearing scuba socks when hiking, but as long as you wear a thin pair of socks underneath they work beautifully.
