Great little desktop amp!

I bought this amp to power a pair of Polk RT25i in-wall speakers using my computer as a source. It doesn't look or feel cheap compared to some cheap Class D amps like this one. The case is aluminum with a great finish, plus it's very small so it doesn't take up much space on my desk! The power supply is gigantic but seems to be well made, delivers 32 volts and sits on the floor. There are two sets of RCA inputs on the rear, which are toggled via the front panel power button, along with a set of small blue front panel LEDs to indicate which input is being used, which thankfully aren't too bright. Pressing the power button makes the internal relays click nice when you turn on the power and switch inputs. I find this useful because now I can also connect audio from my Raspberry Pi and switch between PC and Pi. But how does it sound? It sounds fantastic paired with my 8 ohm polks, taking them to stupidly loud levels with all the distortion. Louder than you will ever need in this room! FLAC and ALAC files sound damn good, better than I expected, I bought this amp and a pair of speakers on Craigslist for $40 for the sound, that's for sure! The only real problem with the amp is the 5-pin connectors. I used right angle plugs on my previous amp, which are also used on the other end on the Polk terminals. However, the hole that goes through the connector posts on the amp is vertical like the posts, meaning the pin has to go up so you end up with wires sticking out of the back of the amp. it should not be. The holes in the posts need to be rotated 90 degrees. For now I will just replace them with banana plugs.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • I'll add later
