The sound is very good - my music sounds great on it. The performance of this device is undeniable. I got the case from Audiophonics and it looks like a real, regular DAC. Very happy with the sound I get. However, due to the uniqueness of this device, there are a few features that you should be aware of. You have no option to power it separately from the USB-C input. This would make it easier for me to use this Android device without draining the battery. As I mentioned earlier, a case is not included, so you'll have to build one yourself, use it without a case, or buy one. one, like the case I mentioned above. It took a little skill and patience to get everything right. Unless you're mechanically inclined, don't bother. Finally, if the unit is turned on when your amplifier is turned on, you will hear a brief "pop" from your speakers. It won't kill your speakers right away, but you definitely don't want that to happen. Be careful when connecting it to your system. If you can overcome all of that, this is a very nice sounding DAC that is technically very good. In terms of distortion and noise it compares favorably to the $120 Topping D30, but if I had to go back and do it again I'd probably go with Topping just because I have an optical input, no issues with the case and have something more sellable . if i get rid of it
