Review on Graco Sharpe 288880 FX3000 Paint Spray by William Chavez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good gun that could be made even better

Overall, this is a pretty good shotgun for the money. The controls are very convenient. The gun is very easy to disassemble for cleaning. The paint sprayer perfectly applies primers, base coats and clear coats. Provided you set up your gun properly, you won't have any trouble with metallic or pearlescent finishes. However, the manufacturer has trimmed a corner that prevents me from giving a higher rating. It comes with a black plastic cup lid. After a few occasions of accidental use, substances such as acetone, car paint thinner and other cleaning products will cause the cap to shrink and become improperly fitted. It does not hold the seal well and runs the risk of falling off during operation. Replacement cups are around $7-8 each and will take some research to find. It's really very short-sighted and stupid that they did it. This is accomplished by inferior, cheaper DeVilbiss Finish Line spray guns. Graco-Sharp would have been better off providing the customer with an aluminum screw cap for the cup, or simply including a non-shrink plastic paint cup with a screw cap. I would gladly pay an extra $10 for a better constraint system.
