Not quite as expected but used nonetheless. Need black floor mats for front and back doors. The texture is more "furry" than fluffy, but enough for a rug. One thing I don't like is that they had to have a brace to stop them from moving. You have to be really careful as they slip very easily. I would add that we have ceramic tile floors which are a bit slippery at first but if you are looking for something that stays in place this is not it. You can use a rubber mat for a rug, but the other thing that doesn't suit you is that they are NOT washable. When they get dirty I have to take them outside, hose them down and dry them in the sun.
