Review on πŸ“€ Panasonic DVD-F87K: 5 Disc Progressive Scan DVD Player in Sleek Black Design by Edris Holwell

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Disappointing but good sound

Good news; The sound is surprisingly good and much better than even expensive players released a few years ago. It's damn cheap. Plays many types of discs. There are many useful features, including advanced dialogs, a setting that allows you to "recover" information lost during the digitizing process (not sure if I got that right, but it seems to be how it says in the manual ) and a changer for 5 hard disks . The Bad News; It has the most frustrating, illogical, and just plain worst user interface of any CD/DVD player I've seen. I spend more time swearing at this player than the rest of the day combined. It has many settings that it forgets when you turn it off! Very often it just blocks options for no apparent reason; I can't switch from one parameter to another and I don't see the logic. I could go on, but don't buy this (or a more recent Panasonic descendant) unless you put $$ well above ease of use and overall satisfaction. I would only recommend this to the complete and utter masochist; I leave mine running 24/7 and don't change the settings so I don't go crazy with bad design. But the sound is, as I said, not bad. And it was cheap! But I certainly wouldn't recommend it for most (any?) people. I intend to donate mine to charity and buy something else if I find a newer car (from someone other than this brand) that I like better. But until then it will hold me, so it was probably worth the small amount it was worth.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Very expensive
