Play Anything on DVD Players

A reviewer previously said that this unit can only play DVD-R discs recorded on Panasonic units. My experience is that nothing could be further from the truth. I've had the device for over a year and everything works. I burn DVD-Rs on a Sony machine and this Panasonic always plays them. I have also bought many DVD-R recordings on EBAY and again this Panasonic never fails. I couldn't be happier with this DVD changer.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Skimpy Instructions

Solid piece of hardware

I purchased this unit about 18 months ago. We had no trouble using this DVD player extensively. The sound and picture quality is very good - the player is connected to a normal tube TV. The unit can recognize discs recorded in a variety of formats: region 1 DVDs, music CDs, picture CDs, video CDs, and even most region-less DVDs. It is very easy to use and set up. In general we were satisfied.

Pros
  • Solid build

Very important! good for TV and video

I love this DVD player. A huge improvement over my old one which was not progressive scan. I had no trouble getting used to the controller, which is always a nuisance with a new system. And the screen functions are fun. I like the ability to adjust the position of the subtitles. I watch a lot of movies with them and it's just nice to have more freedom with them. Overall, this DVD player isn't the absolute "best" DVD player, but if you're looking for a quality low budget price point, this is…

  • Good value for money

Panasonic dvd-f87s in DVD players and recorders

I only give 4 stars for the performance. Sounds great and great video. Lots of players for money. In fact, I will never be able to use all the functions. However, I would say that it is cumbersome to use. Not very manual. Reads and recognizes discs very slowly. Random play requires the player to initialize each disc, which slows things down. It is difficult to eject all the discs from the player because the disc skip button rotates back and forth instead of one way. Plug it into the socket on…

  • Everything fits at the moment

Outstanding picture and sound.

I've had it for 3 months now and the HD output is great, almost as good as an HD broadcast. The sound quality is good, which is no surprise since it's digital. What I like the most is the 2x fast forward with sound. He adjusts the pitch so they don't sound like chipmunks. Not sure about the capabilities of the CD. I haven't figured out how to get it to play from one DVD directly to another. If all you want is good picture quality, there's no reason to look anywhere else. WinDVD. Language is…

  • I have doubts

Disappointing but good sound

Good news; The sound is surprisingly good and much better than even expensive players released a few years ago. It's damn cheap. Plays many types of discs. There are many useful features, including advanced dialogs, a setting that allows you to "recover" information lost during the digitizing process (not sure if I got that right, but it seems to be how it says in the manual ) and a changer for 5 hard disks . The Bad News; It has the most frustrating, illogical, and just plain worst user…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Very expensive

Damn good compact high performance

I picked this little beauty to replace my old and finicky 5 disc CD player and single disc DVD player. Now I have a breather at the old entertainment center, even my old record player can creak there every now and then. When I saw that I couldn't connect the toaster without help, I asked my faithful soulmate to solve the mystery of the setup. In non-technical terms, that is to say in plain language, here is what you need to know about this powerful machine: 1. The manual requires a lot of work.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Not sure

Outdated but sufficient for most uses

It's getting harder and harder to find a DVD/CD changer. Previously, most electronics manufacturers offered a few models. Now many, like Pioneer, Samsung and Philips, don't make them anymore. Companies like Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon and Sony only offer one model. The only one Pioneer has is this one and they don't make it anymore (but there are still plenty of items to buy). VCR/DVD combos, DVD recorders and single DVD players up to 1080p are popular now. Really why would anyone need a DVD changer…
