As a surfer, I usually lock my keys in a 'non-movable' safe that attaches to a compression ring under the bumper. Key fob for my 2009 Camry will not fit. My solution is to put this key in the box as it will open the trunk or door (or glove box). The key fob is then placed in a "Faraday pocket" in the car so that it does not activate the contactless unlocking function. A cheap alternative would be to remove the battery from the key fob, but not ideal. Cutting these key blades wasn't easy. The local locksmith and Low didn't have a machine tool. A Toyota dealer also didn't have a car and referred me to a second local dealer at an estimated cost of $70 per key. SOLUTION: The Batteries Plus store cut them off at $10 each. Kevin was a local of mine who used a dremel to cut a tiny piece of plastic to fit completely in the blank but it was imperceptible. Keys work like magic, make waves!
