Review on Kole Imports Reflective Safety Jacket by Jackie Harbour

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Cheap and reasonable but not great

Vest attaches with elastic nylon chest and webbing straps approximately 5/8 inch wide. Crosses the dog's girth to secure his partner on the other side of the vest. The harness then "cuts" into a vulnerable area on the dog's chest or upper abdomen when walking. Fits my golden retriever/cocker spaniel mix who is 40 lbs, 26", 24.5" long, 15.5" neck. Cinch is tighter than I would like and there is no adjustment. The velcro closure is not strong and loosens if the velcro is not connected the full length. The fabric is thin which is great for my dog as it is double coated and heats up easily. It would be insufficient for a dog wearing it in the needs to provide real warmth during colder months. The material is unrepresentative ripstop nylon meaning it is suitable for walking around the neighborhood but will be destroyed if carried by a dog contacting the brush (e.g. at a dog park, when hunting.) The reflective strips are made of PVC, not the 'coating' that is coming off cheaper collars and leashes. The strips are not as reflective as I've found on others West have seen the same materi al from 3M, but they are reflective enough for non-critical safety purposes like sidewalk walking. I would choose something better if you are walking in heavy traffic, especially if there is no sidewalk or the dog is untrained. I bought through Revain and paid $1.08. The regular price is $4, which comes with Prime. This is normal for the price, but be aware that there are much better jackets in the $8-$10 range. Specifically, they will have better stitching, have properly made and more secure straps, continue lower down the back, be waterproof or waterproof, and reflect a higher percentage of incoming light. You can also make one yourself. Simply cut the fabric to the shape of the pattern, sew on the Velcro and use the 3M Scotch Brite. Everything depends on your needs.
