I like this speaker. It's loud enough that I can hear it throughout the house. I love that I can connect it to my laptop and phone and easily switch the playback input. The light effect is a little unnecessary but nice and I'm starting to love it. I bought this to replace a much cheaper speaker I got from Walmart. I don't remember exactly which model, but it was an early 808 Glo. Compared to the 808 speaker, volume and sound are amazing. I'm not a big audiophile, but even I can tell the difference. Of course, JBL was almost three times as expensive. One feature of the 808 that I really miss, however, was the auto power off feature. I forgot to turn off the speaker several times before going to work. When I get home I have a very dead speaker. I feel like this feature is missing because if my phone is out of blutooth range it just plugs into my ubiquitous laptop and plays. nothing for 8 hours (or until the battery runs out). Also, Blutooth's range is slightly shorter than the 808. I've found that if I leave the speaker in the kitchen and carry my phone around the house with me, the connection drops when I move. With the 808, that wasn't a problem. Not sure what the range is, but I have a small house, only 8,000 sq ft. feet so it's not a very long range maybe 15-20 feet?
