Review on Optimized for Better SEO: Detroit Locker 912A585 πŸ” Trutrac Differential with 27 Spline - Fits Dana 30 by George Johnson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great on the road, can't wait for the off-road test

Installed this on the front axle (Dana 30) of my 1990's YJ when I was shifting gears. I've ridden it about 500 miles so far, but no real off-road riding yet. I will update as I have a ride soon. Why this: I bought this instead of a real locker for a number of reasons. 1. I removed the axle decoupler and upgraded my front axles to TJ so the front diff always rotates. So with this type of differential it shouldn't have much impact on the road2. A real locker is more likely to break something as you can really put all your torque through a tire and in my situation I put a 4BT diesel in my jeep and also added a Klune V 4 to the 1 slider. Crate. If I do a double fall and send all the torque to one wheel, I'm going to break something. I know I'm sacrificing some track ability, but I think my transfer will take longer. I ride with a buddy who has a Rubicon and he always locks and unlocks the front diff so he can take tight corners. It seems easy but either forgets to unlock it first so it doesn't spin or I'm waiting for it as it takes a while to unlock. As I said, it's a small thing, but when I drive I have something to consider.4. I considered incorporating a position to get similar benefits, but with a transmission lockup, I won't be smoking the clutch. Rating: It has only driven about 500 miles so far. up there. The only time I know it's there is when I'm pulling out of a parking lot with my bike pulled out. The tires stretch a little. But in normal driving it behaves the same as before with an open differential. So I'm happy with that! I haven't had a chance to test it myself while travelling. In a couple of weeks I'm going to Raush Creek and hit the black trail where I broke my Dana 35 last time. With this in front and my new 8.8 in the back, I hope to finally finish the trip without a break. I'll let you know how it works. UPDATE 9/10/15 Spent a long 3 day weekend at Raush Creek. Diff did a great job. I could do a lot more than before. In the mud and with good tire speed he behaved like a blocker. On heavy rocks, crawling in double low (I have a gear ratio of about 162 to 1), she spun a wheel quite easily, but when I slowed it immediately locked up nice and hard. I was able to climb the stone ledges with no problem. As for durability. It took a weekend but the diesel engine broke either the mainshaft in my transfer case or the propshaft in the Klune V. Either way it outlasted the gearbox. I'm happy with that.
