Amazing Quality Punches

I have been a leatherworking artist for over 25 years and I use diamond shaped punches extensively. I've been using the Craftool Pro punch set from Tandy Leather for years. They've definitely stood the test of time, but these aren't the most perfect punches for finer work. If you can't afford or don't want to spend money on high-end pro kicks, there are a few other options. These dies are similar in style to those from Weaver Leather Supply but are actually higher quality. What surprised me when I opened the packaging was how solidly made these stamps are. They are definitely stronger than Weaver punches of the same style. The teeth on these punches also appear to be more evenly machined and are sharper and more polished. I would not have expected that with dampers in this price range. Can't comment on their durability at this point, but I have as much confidence in them as I do in Weaver shots. The handles of these punches are a bit rough and they are not true to size. Not a problem at all, but somewhat unexpected given how well prepared the tines are. The sharp corners of the handles have also been rounded, which is nice. Stamp size is clearly marked on each stamp. Above all, they work very well. I tried them on a 9oz layer of vegetable tanned saddle leather and was very pleased with how easily they penetrated the skin and how easily they were removed. The holes between the punches appear to be the same size and spacing, and the angle is convenient for hand sewing. All in all, these hole punches are great value for money as long as they can stand up to prolonged use.

Pros
  • Crafts and Sewing
Cons
  • Slightly Torn
