Review on ๐Ÿšด Radbot 1000 Tail Light by Portland Design Works by Steven Lane

Super bright and affordable

I heard about the Radbot 1000 rear light and decided to order it and use it for my upcoming journey into the century. This is a 1W LED with a large reflector on the underside for extra visibility when hit by the headlights of a car approaching from behind. This one-two combination of super bright 1W flashing LED and reflector gives it a significant advantage over other bike lights. I'd also like to mention that the reflector acts as a form of insurance so that should your batteries die with little or no daylight, you still have some visibility when approaching headlights hit the reflector. In my opinion, this is a significant safety mechanism, at least from dusk to night. Running on 2 AAA batteries you can expect around 30 hours of use according to Portland Design Works, but if you are using non-rechargeable alkaline batteries the light will likely last up to 50 hours or more in zZz Pop mode. I understand that. Turning on the flashlight in always-on mode significantly reduces battery life to around 12 hours (according to Portland Design Works. I never use this mode so I don't recommend it). Convenient to mount on the back of the bag or attach to the seat post or seat stays. Whatever works best for you. Compared to the Planet Bike Blinky Superflash taillight, which uses a 1/2W LED, the Radbot 1000 delivers twice the light. The Planet Bike Superflash is good because of the extra 2 LEDs flashing against the 1/2W strobe LED, but instead of the 2 extra LEDs the Radbot 1000 offers a large reflector. They're comparable in price, but there's a slight difference in size and an obvious difference in brightness. Both are clearly visible, but the Radbot is both brighter and slightly larger. I like the actual button on the Radbot as it makes it easier to select modes and toggle them on and off. Superflash - it's a decent light, but the Radbot 1000 also deserves your attention. Both are great. , due to complaints from people who felt the lights were "off" for too long. Now people are complaining about the mode that replaced it, so Portland Design Works is back with the zZz Pop mode. Unfortunately, as the representative told me, both versions are now available in the market and there is no way of knowing which one you will get. So if that bothers you, you can order directly from the Portland Design Works website to ensure you're getting what you think you should be getting.
