You can trim the product to fit the area you need to cover and protect. You can also apply an antibiotic cream to the wound and then apply DuoDerm to it. Once you have DuoDerm you will never use a standard patch again. And this is a large sized product, but FYI, DuoDerm is also available in much larger sizes in case you need to close a post-operative incision while it heals, for example.
