Bad glue in first aid

I've been using Duoderm for many years but for some reason it hasn't retained its adhesion. If I wasn't outside the return/replacement window I would return it.

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Keeps the wound moist without dirt.

My doctor recommended them to me and they are so effective that not only do they cover wounds but they are barely visible. I have a second order. Excellent adhesion in the shower. Keeps the wound moist to aid healing.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Deducted Immediately

Bought to cover the wound on my child's back. Each time they came off within the first hour of wearing. Both frustrating and dangerous. I've found Band-Aid Hydro Seal to be cheaper and last almost forever, even for swimming and bathing.

Pros
  • Makes you happy
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Disappointment in healthcare

I am a nurse and have been using Duoderm products for many years and am very happy with them. Unfortunately, these are not liable. I've used skin prep but they still don't hold. I thought maybe they sent me an expired box and that's why they don't stick well, but the expiry date is 2023.

Excellent Health Product

Ideal for covering cuts and other facial abrasions while healing or for use all over the body. They adhere very well but do not adhere to the injury itself. You can trim the product to fit the area you need to cover and protect. You can also apply an antibiotic cream to the wound and then apply DuoDerm to it. Once you have DuoDerm you will never use a standard patch again. And this is a large sized product, but FYI, DuoDerm is also available in much larger sizes in case you need to close aโ€ฆ

Ideal for light wounds

Works very well on wounds with light exudate. Much better than regular bandages as they are waterproof, the skin heals much faster as it covers the wound well and works better than constantly changing bandages. I know there are complaints that it doesn't stick, but it's fine for minor wounds. I've noticed that this area gets sticky after 2 days so I think if it's better to stick with stronger adhesives it might damage the scars more. I don't think it should be used for serious wounds. Good protection against shallow wounds.

I bought three packs of ultra thin DuoDERM patches: these patches and 4 inch biopsy squares on my nose. I used all of the "spots" in this pack but didn't use the 4 inch squares and I'm not sure I'll be using them; I probably should have sent them back. I don't know how long sealed "band-aids" are kept for future use. I tried halving and even thirds several small "patches" because even they were too big for the area applied. It's hard to be so "thrifty", but I don't like wasting money. Despiteโ€ฆ

Use with caution at Health Care

In my experience they are sometimes helpful in areas that don't get constantly wet, clean enough and fairly dry that they can be used for a few days. But if the skin is very fragile or thin, cracking can occur, so use common sense. It worked for an inexplicable, very small tear in the skin that kept opening, and it held the very small area in place long enough to heal, but I wouldn't use it. without knowing much about how the skin reacts to other dressings. It's best to use less and only useโ€ฆ
