In my experience they are sometimes helpful in areas that don't get constantly wet, clean enough and fairly dry that they can be used for a few days. But if the skin is very fragile or thin, cracking can occur, so use common sense. It worked for an inexplicable, very small tear in the skin that kept opening, and it held the very small area in place long enough to heal, but I wouldn't use it. without knowing much about how the skin reacts to other dressings. It's best to use less and only use things your doctor prescribes, like Bactroban or Silvaden with a gauze bandage and no glue or tape to minimize the risk of skin damage. Or a mixture of zinc and collagen if the area isn't wet and dripping. It's best to prepare something like a Sureprep or similar before applying to improve adhesion and minimize tearing when you (very gently) remove it.
