Bought to replace the ugly hard stairs my dog climbs up to his favorite window. These steps are beautifully lightweight and the fabric upholstery blends in better with the decor of the room. However, the inner foam just isn't strong enough for these ladders to be safe for my dog: they crush, tilt and are unstable for her underfoot. My dog tries the stairs. He never "filled in" the cover completely (note the loose folds in the photo). The ladder is easily compressed and deforms under its weight. The website says this ladder is suitable for dogs up to 60 pounds - no way! My dog only weighs 35 pounds. Because the foam isn't stiff enough, they're more like a ramp for the dog to slide down. And if my dog doesn't step right in the middle, he'll squeeze to the side, and he'll fall in that direction too. If you have a very small dog or cat (perhaps less than 10 pounds?) then I suppose these steps might work. But something used as a ladder really needs to be more durable than that pliable foam. Very disappointed these ladders look good and are the perfect size but I can't risk the lack of stability for my dog.
