Still deciding I think

I tested many saddles to find the right one for my rear triangle. I've tried several Terry models, some unnamed from China, every seat we already had in our garage, from every bike my husband bought for himself or the kids. I came to the conclusion that I needed the large center cutout, which this seat certainly has, and I couldn't do without the padding, which this seat also has. I tried this on a treadmill for an hour and the results were encouraging. So I put it on a tandem and we tried it 30 miles on the road and that worked out fine too. So I switched to a gravel tandem and we tried it out on a 40 mile ride. The wind wasn't fair and our average speed was low and we rode 3.5 hours. My bottom was very unhappy with me most of the time and still unhappy 2 days later. I had a "favorite seat" before, but I don't know if my bum would have been happier in that seat than this one, or if the recovery would have been shorter. I know for sure that I didn't experience any numbness while riding and I haven't ridden suede (I don't usually do this, I have a lot of padding without). I'm not sure if my tandem position is correct. fits the "sporty" angle this seat is designed for - I tried the moderate women's version of this seat and found it was too wide in the back. This one is better in that regard, but I'm not sure if gel is really the stuff I'm looking for - my other favorite uses memory foam. My husband says that with this seat, the discomfort I have sounds like a beginner's discomfort that takes some getting used to, not like the exceptionally fat person's discomfort I've had before. Let's see when my ass is ready to drive again.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Little things
