Well, the whole point of a thermostat, thermometer or hygrometer is to measure temperature and humidity accurately, and your normal devices often differ by a few degrees and even 10% or more in humidity. They are also very accurate at 0.1°F or 1% humidity. I got this for free from the Vine program but I already own 4 of these. The rest are about 1 year and 9 months old. This is similar to others. When they are side by side I rarely see the temperature change more than 0.1 or 0.2 degrees or 1% humidity! If you're wondering why some rooms are too cold or too hot, check your thermostats! Smart thermostats are particularly bad as the electronics/displays often heat up the device. I have these in every room and next to the thermostats. In my photo, the one on the left is older. The border is a bit more green-gray, while the newer one is more grey-green (less green). This may be due to fading or slight manufacturing changes, but they are slightly green in contrast to the manufacturer's image. Also note that mine doesn't have the manufacturer's logo on it. My photo also shows accessories: plastic stand, fridge magnet, permanent double-sided foam tape, and an extra CR2032 battery. The main reasons to buy are: 1) The high accuracy and precision of the Sensirion sensors 2) The Paperwhite display blows away LCDs in contrast and viewing angles 3) Modern, attractive, unobtrusive design The reason for taking off the star is a small price and a few accessories. The stand is cheap and easily knocked over when placed on a table etc. A fridge magnet is a bad idea. You don't want to place this by the fridge or even an outside wall or front door or towards the heating/air conditioning register. Your measurements will be disabled. Finally, double-sided tape is bad, as the backing is very difficult to remove to replace the battery, which lasts a little under a year. Most likely, you will pull out a piece of drywall. I recommend doing what I did, which is use the 3M command bar.
