SMR disks have a CMR area, which is used as a cache of small pieces, so as not to overwrite the entire SMR block with each access. I filled this cache with a random write (which came out 4 GB) and looked at the performance of the disk after that (picture with small numbers) and with ReadyBoost enabled (with bigger numbers). In general, using ReadyBoost looks like a very good idea, especially if you have enough imagination to install this disk as a system disk.
