It's not worth using an old washcloth or regular sponge and getting the same result.
I decided to purchase this after a glowing social media post. Well, I thought two great sponges in one, great, but I'm not impressed. It's also very stiff when wet, and without aggressive rubbing, the foam started to break at the first brushing. I personally find that an old washcloth does the same job, if not better. I definitely expected to like them, so I'm very disappointed. didn't notice the smell. It's still as tough when wet, so get what you need with absorbency, and it's not a sponge that's too thick, but it's not super thin either.
