Terrible stubborn smell on the cap

I washed it several times but the nasty chemical smell stayed, I just can't wash it off. It's also a very cheap hat so I think I got what I paid for. It is made of very cheap material which I now regret buying. I would not recommend buying it, I should have spent $5 more for a decent baseball cap that is made of a more durable material and most importantly without the lingering unknown horrible smell which is most likely not safe to breathe and who knows how to wear it.
