Review on Sabrent Rocket External Aluminum SB 2TB NANO BLK by Jason Hayes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Pros and Cons

Pros: 1) Great packaging; It's a small vessel that flips open to accommodate two USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB 3 cables, as well as the flash drive itself. You will not throw away the packaging. 2) It is slightly larger than a classic flash drive. 3) The drive is formatted in ExFAT so it works with both Mac and PC and also with Linux. 4) As for flash drives, the advertised speed is 1000MB/s, but my tests with a USB-C cable showed a maximum speed of 906MB/s, which is still very fast for these drives. less than 5 minutes, making it an indispensable tool for transferring large amounts of data such as 4K movies during a very long flight. Disadvantages: 1) With prolonged use, the drive will overheat and its performance will degrade. My repeated read/writes have shown that temperatures increase while performance drops from 906 MB/s to 15-150 MB/s. This may be unavoidable due to the design of this class of drive. This is a guess on my part, but it could also be due to thermal protection tripping when it affects performance. Conclusion: This drive is fast and compact. It comes in a really nice aluminum carrying case and includes the two cables you need. My only concern is the drop in performance when it gets hot. I will add this to my daily use of the system and may update the review depending on how well it performs over the long term. At this point, price and performance outweigh my extensive testing, which resulted in heat and performance issues. So I recommend it as a great flash drive replacement when you need more size and incredible performance.
