I purchased this product to complete a project that requires me 450-500 feet (installing a keel guard on a small boat). I understand that this heat gun generally has good reviews, but my complaints are repeated too often. This heat gun (at full max) wobbled everywhere (depending on temperature) but spent most of the time between 150 and 220. Only once in many minutes of trying did it hit 300, in just a second. (The product has no temperature display - I used a very good portable infrared laser high temperature thermometer - tried it in many environments - the wall of an air-conditioned house, the sidewalk on a hot day, in a fridge freezer, and the coil of a electric stove - fully charged - I was always very close to the actual temperature). I also tried different forks in the garage (the location of my project) and then brought them inside to test. for house wiring. Nothing helped. I didn't try the product until after the return period had expired (long story), so I was probably unlucky. I have emailed the company but my expectations are very low. My advice? If you buy this, buy local and test fast. This is how you get your money back quickly if you bought a lemon. The product is often a good performer, but Porter Cable produces some abominations. Let the buyer be alert.
