Review on Herm Sprenger Heavyweight Collar Stainless by Michelle Larson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

That's great.

Our 150 lb Great Dane puppy became unwieldy at 11 months old and I am a 6ft 190 lb Soldier. He was dragging me down the hills faster than I could come back, this collar changed that instantly. For those of you who are thinking "this is inhuman or looks horribly painful" it really isn't, I can tell you because I tested it on myself first as oddly I do everything for the dog ( treats, food, etc.). , if I don't eat it or expose myself to it, why should I expect it either. This collar is "extremely uncomfortable" when fully pulled, I wouldn't call it painful. It really sucks, but it's not at all like you'd guess there isn't intense, shocking pain from the dozens of "thorns" (they're perfectly spherical at the tips and feel like fingers are in your stabbing the neck) that line the collar. As far as using it, you disconnect, put it on and put it back together. It may be easier, but there's nothing complicated about it. Once walking the beast that had swept me down the slope faster than I could walk has become an experience very similar to kite flying as a child, in the second second every tension is felt, it recoils immediately, starts at the same speed as me and is 100% controllable. This collar is also made in Germany and appears to be of the highest quality, much better than Fred Meyers' Taiwanese version, which looks like it was bent out of a chain link. 22 inches is perfect for a 150 lb pup. By the way, you can buy and add links at your own discretion. I think there really is no limit to how long you can do this so your dog never outgrows it.
