Sturdy, attractive, space for many books in a small footprint

After researching many different types of children's bookshelves, I decided on this one and am very glad I did. Not to mention the obvious, but this is a "display-type" bookshelf with books facing the front. It's a lot easier for my 18-month-old daughter to choose a book when she can see the cover than when she can only see the spine - and from conversations I've had with other parents, it seems like they will many children do the same . Most bookcases of this type are made of either wood, cardboard, or a wooden frame with fabric straps for the shelves. If you need a sturdy bookshelf, wood is the right choice! Here's what I love about this bookshelf: 1) Did I mention it's 100% wood? In my experience, cardboard shelves tend to be quite flimsy, and wooden shelves with fabric slings tend to have books leaning forward and sometimes even falling out. 2) The shelves are deep enough (about 1.3 inches). 4"). This is particularly important for cardboard books, which are usually quite thick. As you can see in one of my photos, two medium-thick cardboard books can be placed one behind the other. This is also available in other wooden showcases and is actually too thick for cardboard books !3) Huge Capacity: While this shelf isn't very tall, it actually has FIVE shelves (most others only have three or four), meaning it can hold a massive amount of books.4) Decent quality wood, no it's not mahogany but not pine or balsa It's strong enough to carry light loads but not too heavy to move it when needed Smooth edges and slightly rounded corners make it safe for toddlers 5 ) The Assembly is easy and no extra tools are required, just use the included hex wrench to install about 18 of these int align external holes. My daughter was so excited about this bookshelf that she squeaked when she saw it for the first time. And I'm very glad that her books won't be scattered all over the floor anymore! (I didn't squeak, though.) My only SMALL complaint is purely aesthetic: the screw heads are visible on the front of all the shelves. They're all set back, so there aren't any safety concerns, but they're a little noticeable in an eye-catching piece of furniture. Overall I am very satisfied with this bookshelf and would buy it again at any time. Could you spend less money and get a cardboard or wood pad with fabric loops? Of course, but you definitely get what you pay for with this shelf.
