Simple and effective

I would recommend pairing this with a kettle if you don't already have one. I found one on sale at Target for $12, and these two together are the best $20 coffee maker you can buy. (I still use this setup many days when I don't want to mess with the $800 espresso machine my husband bought us for Christmas.) You can watch many videos on how to properly brew coffee. You should probably check out one or two. I don't think it's necessary to focus on all the details. The most important thing is to be a little slow in everything. One thing I learned from the videos I watched is that the first spray of water in an area should be enough to get them all wet. Something with "open". Imagine loose tea leaves opening up in hot water, but you can't see it because the coffee grounds are too fine. At this stage I give them a little time, usually enough time to toss the ball down the hall for my cat a few times. Then all the professionals slowly pour water in a spiral. I base my spirals on whether my spirals start on the outside or the inside depending on where most of the coffee is at the moment, thinking about drifting it from where it's not, or outside or in the middle. I typically use 1.5 scoops of coffee (from the scoop that came with the cone) per 16 ounce mug and it fills about 3/4 inch from the top of the cone with about two slow pours. There are more advanced techniques if you'd like to learn them, but without getting too bogged down in the details, I'll do a little morning meditation on the life of the coffee beans (additional meditation as you add milk and watch it slowly swirl). ). around), a very tasty cup of coffee, and my cat appears when I turn on the kettle, so it's fun for the whole family. Cleaning couldn't be easier. Lightly press the filter filled with coffee grounds onto the rim of the cone, throw away, rinse the cone and it's ready for the next day.
