Aerodynamics - Lighting and Ceiling Fans

The fan looks great. I am a designer; While I don't design ceiling fans, I would be proud to design this one. This is a beautiful fan. I take my hat off to the designer(s). I took the polished nickel version and put the lighter wood side down. As mentioned, this isn't the easiest install - lots of screws. But sometimes it's a design paradox - what seems easy can be difficult to mount/assemble and vice versa. In the end it's worth it! The fan case profile has these 3-4 layers like a metal biscuit giving it the appearance of pure nickel. On the contrary, I don't like some of the Hunter fans with their many dust-collecting ridges. The style of this fan - aerodynamic, streamlined design - is quite fitting for a ceiling fan! Nice. I also like that the individual blades are mounted asymmetrically (see photo). It was a pleasant surprise for me and a thoughtful design decision. I like looking at the fan when it's off. (I'm attaching a photo to the bottom right, a rare sight in promotional materials.) The main benefit for me was that the LED bulbs are replaceable. LED bulbs ALWAYS have an unexpectedly short lifespan. I think anyone who buys fans with built-in LEDs (not replaceable) is crazy. They will kick out their fans when the lights go out in 3-5 years. I just put in new bulbs with it. Speaking of bulbs, the included Westinghouse LEDs were attractive too - a custom low form factor, although the threads are standard. I also like how the glass fan housing screws directly into the fan via a large thread. Unlike other fans that require a metal screw to make contact with the glass, this drives me nuts and makes my teeth chatter. For those of you having trouble with your remote control, you might be wondering if your receiver's antenna was choked during installation. It should protrude about three inches from the receiver's plastic case (but still hidden inside the outer cover). I was concerned about the same problems that other browsers have with their remote controls. Luckily mine worked on the first try and made me an electric hero for my family! I would like Westinghouse to add some weight to the remote by adding a small metal weight inside. Otherwise, the fan runs completely silently. I hereby confirm that my light was dimmed when I held down the light button (although the dimming process is quite tedious). So I'm thinking about buying two more for the other rooms and taking full advantage of the Westinghouse, leaving one for a single remote to control them all.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Nothing
