Totally useless and dangerous. Mixed gases have different partial pressures and boiling points, so they move unevenly between cylinders. It is very difficult to control the transfer of gases and it is easy to accidentally overfill the cylinder. I tried it once, got a little scared assessing the risk of loss and decided that the minimal long-term savings I could end up making weren't worth it. Save money and invest in buying new cans when you need them. I doubt this thing will ever save you any money. And imagine how bad it would be if the can accidentally exploded in front of you.
