Bought for my son to swim / boogie board off the coast of California in November. We were on the beach from 9am until dusk for several days. It was the best buy! My son usually only plays on the beach for an hour in early summer before he gets too cold and begs from us, but after buying this wetsuit he hasn't complained about the freezing. The costume was worth every penny! My son is 11 and small for his age, fits Med/7-8 in boys clothes. Before buying, I measured according to the instructions and chose the size. My son still had room to grow because he measures the upper limit of one size, but at the same time he has just reached the lower limit of the next size. I'm so thankful we didn't listen to reviews and ratings. MEASURE YOUR CHILD CORRECTLY BEFORE ORDERING. The suit should fit snugly, as if putting it on is a bit of an effort, to keep water out. My son only wore underwear under his suit. I'm saying this because I want you to understand that it must be too tight to wear swim shorts underneath. It also means you have to ask your kids to go to the bathroom before putting it on as it's usually difficult to get up and down, but when it gets wet we both had to struggle to put it back on . The suit should be tight but comfortable. My son could stand, sit and move all of his limbs normally. This is an amazing costume worth every penny, it kept my son warm while he played in the water.
