They're pretty good. Clearly copies Fiskars design but works quite well. I had another set before (link below, it's long!) and they cut really well, but the lock can't be used by hand. You have no problem. But both need a blade guard. Spray with WD40 or something similar, let it take effect, wipe off, done. (Frankly, all garden shears will benefit from this.) I carry them in my side pocket when I'm in the garden or greenhouse. I find myself pulling them out and using them quite a bit.
