I bought this set AND the 18 color set and honestly think the 18 colors are better after getting both. First of all the 18 color set has 2 white ones and you will really need them. I didn't even notice that the set didn't come with 2 white ones, otherwise I probably wouldn't have bought it. Second, the case doesn't close properly, it snaps into place but doesn't stay securely in place, likely because the entire lid is bent. Third, paint cups sit too far from the holes in the body. In a set with 18 colors, they are flush with the body when inserted. Maybe it also affects the fact that he doesn't want to close? I like the brush holder and the colors are ok. I also like that the palette is white on the inside for blending. 18 color sets have palettes that match body color. I use porcelain for mixing anyway, so I don't care. I ended up giving this set to my daughter to play with, she wanted it because it had more colors and the case was the color she preferred (nice mint green, another small set I bought was light pink) so gave I just took it to her and kept the smaller set for myself. I wouldn't buy it again.
