I received this to try my hand at digital journaling. It doesn't have all the functionality of an Apple Pencil, but it gets the job done. I don't do calligraphy or typography, so can't say if that would work for that, but I know it works fine for basic pen use - dragging pictures into my journal, playing games, etc. The only thing I have found that you don't have to use the edge of the point straight up and down or it won't work. Hold your pencil at an angle and you're good to go.
