I have used three more G2 brushes since I bought the Sonicare 5100 Gum Health Toothbrush which came with a 'optimal' G2 brush. Be the last and the best. Right? no It took me about 30 seconds to figure out that this brush is in no way "extra soft" or not compared to the G2. My gums were irritated and long term use of these G3s wouldn't be great. A few quick fingertip comparisons quickly confirmed the stiffness of the G3 and G2 bristles. The G3 heads are more comfortable than the G2 heads, which are still made without them. They largely eliminate the skull rattle that occurs when you "slip" and the G2's head hits the teeth. However, G2s are smaller and easier to move.
