I replaced the previous 12 cups so I needed a model that could use the same carafe. The previous model worked perfectly until one day there was a bang and all the water drained from the tank. 3 years probably isn't that bad I guess. I bought this model, it works perfectly, the coffee is tasty and hot. Being able to grab the last drop quickly (impatience for coffee) works perfectly, no leakage. I haven't cleaned it yet, but it seems to have a function. Do not use a timer or change the strength of the drink. The previous watch wasn't as bright, which I liked better until I got used to it. The extra cord can be removed, but since mine is under the cabinet and I pull it out, that feature wasn't important to me, but you might want to avoid a desk clutter. If you paid full price for this unit I wouldn't consider it good value but for the price of the Revain and with the reusability of our other decanter it's perfect. The black color with stainless steel finish goes well with the counter and everything works as advertised.
