This expansion card is a great way to add SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports to an older computer that came with slower ports. The 19-pin connector is ideal for connecting this card to the USB ports on the front of modern PC cases or to a USB connector module that fits in the ODD/FDD drive bay. Unfortunately, you have to be extremely careful with the 19-pin connection. Pin header on this board because it is very badly soldered at the factory. Typically, the vias must be filled with solder to ensure a good mechanical and electrical connection. However, on the board I received, the holes are almost empty and the pins are barely attached to the board with little to no solder. These pins can easily detach from the normal forces involved in inserting and removing a 19-pin cable. I was able to use the card very carefully after plugging in the 19-pin cable, but poor soldering makes me concerned about long-term reliability. All in all, this would have been a great USB stick if the 19-pin connector had been properly soldered at the factory. However, in its current state, I'm concerned that any movement or strain on the 19-pin cable could result in dropped connections and unreliable USB ports. This uncertainty means that I can only give this card three stars.
