Review on ๐Ÿงน Bissell Symphony Vacuum for Hardwood & Tile Floors with 4 Pads, 1132A Steam Mop: Ultimate Clean and Convenience by Megan Holtz

Beware of the falling handle. Poor design of all Easy Touch Digital Controls

After reading many reviews I decided to give this vacuum/steamer a try. Concerns have been expressed and I have to agree with many of them. While it did a mediocre job on our floors, remember that the handle will NOT lock in an upright position. It ended with a nasty foot injury (photo). This is a serious design flaw and Bissell needs to be fixed for the next generation of machines as soon as possible. Some PROS: The steam is quite hot, the mop head is adequate (if dampened with water before installation to use it), and the vacuum function while mopping is great. Idea - needs to improve functionality. Good quality mop parts. However, he hasn't washed himself even after two washes, the second with bleach. The telescoping handle is a nice feature, but it's hard to pull up and lock into place. CONS: - The grip doesn't stay upright as advertised. This is because the water tank is on the handle, making it heavy. There is no lock/guard plate release feature (like a regular vacuum cleaner) and the cord is quite strong which can lead to imbalance of the whole device. - Leaves dry fine dust - I used the machine on our old vinyl floors for almost an hour. Eventually, with many repeated passes, he pulled out stuck bits of food, stains, and larger pieces. I had to go through it with a dry Swiffer to finish it. Seems silly to do this after working with steam/vacuum for so long. -- Although the machine head is small, it easily fits under cabinets and high stools, and is inconvenient to maneuver with a heavy handle/machine body. - TERRIBLE handle design. The triangle shape may look modern, but it's terrible to use. You can't see the buttons/lights on it unless you step forward to see them (I didn't realize on several occasions that no vapor was being produced because I couldn't see the buttons) or by pressing the Pull handle down. The steam button is too big, doesn't feel like you're pressing it, and is difficult not to use as it's right where your hand should be holding the pen. It's a really horrible design and I wonder what board meeting came up with it. Obviously they never intended to actually use this design. - It is difficult to lift and maneuver. I have back problems and was hoping to reduce the hassle of sweeping, mopping and keeping floors clean. This is not the right option. After using it I had pain for 2 days. (except for the injured leg) - If you're having trouble pulling out the loose dirt, stop pressing the steam button (difficult given the awful triangular handle design) and slide the device back and forth. over it again. That seems to grab him better and not push him anymore. I would recommend draining the tank and not leaving the car with water in the tank. Another review notes that it may leak. It MAY work on carpets, but don't worry. Not enough suction to pull anything off the surface. Too expensive for poor functionality. Hopefully this review will discourage others from buying this bug and will bring Bissell's attention back to the drawing board.
